Macau

Matt and I went to Macau on Sunday; it's an hour-long ferry ride from Hong Kong. It's another Special Administrative Region in China, but it was a Portuguese colony for a while in the 15 & 1600s, so there's a mix of Chinese and colonial influences.

There are Chinese temples and Catholic churches.

One of the most famous sites in Macau is the facade of St. Peter's. The church was built in 1602, but the building was mostly destroyed (except for the facade) in a fire in 1835.

We also went to the old Fort.

Typical architecture.

Sights.

While we were walking around, we heard firecrackers so we decided to check it out.

Awesome!

The ladies giving out red pocket for Chinese New Year apparently loved me because I did a little "gung hei gung hei"... I guess that was the last thing they were expecting, and they each handed me 6 or 7 pieces of chocolate. woo!
