je suis ...

Ok, so I've been slacking a lot on this blog thing because Nothing Terribly Exciting has happened. Everything is still in the planning stages.

Matt and I are working on our 6-week voyage to the UK & Europe. We're flying into London in late July and then heading up to Edinburgh, to visit his sister's family and ADORABLE LABRADOODLE PUPPY. Then we'll head to the Netherlands, and probably end the trip in Belgium, where my auntie lives. We fly back out of London to HK in the beginning of September.

I've started learning French, because 1. I'm a huge dork and I know I'll just get laughed at when I try to speak, but 2. I'm convinced knowing how to read some things (menus, especially) will help when we are in Brussels! Besides, then I'll have some knowledge of Spanish, Italian, AND French. Go me.

It'll also be nice to get out of HK during the hottest part of the year. I don't really feel like melting into a sweaty puddle everytime I go outside, thank you very much.

The good part about leaving for 6 weeks is that we can move out of our current apartment, store what little stuff we have, and not have to pay rent until we find a new place in September. The catch is, we have to find a new place when we get back. I'm cringing at the thought of being homeless for a little bit, but I'm pretty sure it'll work out. At least I will still have a job, and a visa.

Aside from planning for the trip & dealing with the apartment, I've got to study for the GRE. I take the verbal/quantitative test on June 6, so I've only got about 2 weeks left. I've been working at it off and on, and I keep vascillating between "I've got this in the bag" and "OMG, how do I do long division again?" The worst part is not being able to use a calculator. I guess this is the price I pay for not taking any math (aside from stats 1) in college. Luckily the average score for my program at UT is only 1250, so I should be alright.

That's all for now. The Dragon Boat festival is on Thursday. If it's not pouring, we might go check it out. Hope you're enjoying your Memorial Day!
