So, first of all: Go gators! National Champeeeeeenshipppp!!!
Matt got up at 5am this morning to watch the game on the internets. That's dedication.
Today was a good day. I've had a string of craptacular days at work lately, so it was refreshing. I got a Christmas card from little Nicole('s mommy). It was addressed to "Miss Jessiga". haha. Also, I bought some adorable cards from Marks and Spencer so I'll be handing those out to the children this week, if I can get them finished soon. We'll see how it goes. I might hate my life again by Friday...
Basically, my biggest problem with teaching is dealing with the bad kids. (Debunking Stereotypes of Asians: Chapter 1.) I realize it's like training puppies -- you've gotta stick with the positive reinforcement and all that. But certain kids just don't give me a lot to work with. I don't have a lot of options as far as punishment goes; the worst kids get sent out to talk to one of the managers, which tames them for 20 minutes, if I'm lucky.
I'm trying to keep them busy with games and stuff, but we can't play for the whole lesson because we don't get much done. I've tried writing their names on the board and marking them for good/bad behaviors. Some of the kids have the audacity to come up and rub out the marks by their names! It's ridiculous. I hate that discipline is what I have foremost in my mind when I go into a majority of the classes I teach. I think a lot of the kids would really enjoy themselves if they just stopped being jerks.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
