Seoul: Day 1 and 2

We just got back from our trip to Seoul, which was amazing! I'm going to post pics in installments because there are a lot.

Day 1: When we flew in to Incheon, we were a bit disappointed because everything was brown. No snow. Sigh.

That night we went to the North Tower to see the city from way up high. When we got to the top of the hill, a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE happened -- it started snowing!! yay!

They have some weird wire people floating in the sky around the tower. They look cool when they're snow-coated.
Then we went back to the hotel and Matt threw snowballs at me on the way home.
See: ACTION SHOT.

Day 2: SKI TIME FUN LAND

The next day we went to a ski resort outside of town. It's called Vivaldi Park (my guess: because it's open all of the Four Seasons?) and it had tons of snow machines and a water park attached to it. It was kind of insane.

Also, it was REALLY cold.
We finally figured out how to rent skis after about 2 hours of wandering around looking at Korean signs. I could barely fit my uber-muscular calves into the ski boots. ^^ The Korean guys didn't know what to do about this crazy white girl so I ended up just wearing boots that were like 3 sizes too big. Then we did the easiest beginner slope. I'd like to blame my ski boots (which is hardly fair) but I basically fell out of the lift, careened into a pile of snow, and fell on my ass, all the while nearly destroying an 8-year-old Korean girl (who looked pretty hardcore, as she was carrying her own snowboard) and blocking the path for the next set of lift passengers.
WHAT FUN!
But then the lift guy helped me up and I was ok. Until I got to the steep part.
Nobody taught us how to uh, stop, so I ended up flying down the hill faster than I ever thought possible. There was a whole line of Korean kids learning how to ski and they almost went down like dominoes when I went by. Luckily I made it to the bottom alive.
The second and third times were much smoother, and now I think I finally understand how I'm supposed to ski. Sort of.

We decided that 2.5 hours of skiing was really all that was necessary for one day, returned the equipment, and wandered around for a while. Matt found a recreation area that's mostly used in the summer.

The Cafe.
Fresh tracks!!
We also found the Ocean World attached to the park, which was (oddly enough) Egyptian-themed. You should go to Matt's blog for more on that later. :)
