Here are some of the pics from the Central field trip that I forgot to upload last time.
We went to the Man Mo temple and made friends with the locals.

People light coils of incense hanging in the middle of the temple. It's difficult to breathe, and you come out smelling a bit like patchouli.

Statues near Hollywood Road.

Yesterday Meghan and I went to get our HK ID cards, and stopped at the Chi Lin Buddhist Nunnery/Nan Lian Garden in Diamond Hill on the way back.
"The Garden is designed as a garden in the style of the Tang Dynasty... The design concept is centred on a one-way circular route."
They're serious about the one-way thing.
Meghan and I saw a restaurant which was literally behind a waterfall (below) and decided to go back there for lunch after we finished the circle. When we tried to go in the wrong way, we got stopped twice, and they almost made us walk the whole way around again.

Lunch was great. The restaurant was totally vegetarian (which is very uncommon). I think this is the first place we've been that didn't sneak some pork into the meal.
The Chi Lin Buddhist Nunnery. I'm not sure if 'Nunnery' is really the right word.

One of the Lotus Gardens.

Later that night I went with Shanita and Dhwani to the Fringe Club to see a jazz concert.

The show was AMAZING. It was packed but we managed to squeeze up to the front, where we were close enough to touch the pianist. At one point his music fell off the piano and knocked his beer all over the floor, but he kept playing. After the song, he was more upset about the beer than the wet sheet music. :)
They also invited this tiny Asian woman to come up and sing. The band started playing and out of nowhere she starts belting out jazz standards in perfect English. None of us even saw it coming -- she was absolutely phenomenal.
After the show we went out in Lan Kwai Fong to go dancing. About 4 clubs and 5 hours later, we got *delicious* Kebabs and then caught a taxi home. I think we got back to HKIEd at about 5:30 in the morning.
You should have seen the look on our security guard's face. :D
